Welcome to Sue Flood Photography

My First Newsletter

Dear friends and fellow photographers, I am delighted to introduce my first newsletter.

Photographing the Adelie Penguin Colony - Foyn Island

I’ve been fortunate to travel with many of you reading this, sharing various adventures from the North Pole, the South Pole and in-between. I’m very grateful to each and everyone of you who have travelled with me, or shown an interest in my work over the years. Here I hope to share my passion for capturing the beauty of the natural world on a regular basis, keeping you informed about trips, courses, lectures and other events, which I hope will be of interest.

Following my original career with the BBC Natural History Unit, I have concentrated on developing my wildlife and travel photography, and now have over 25 years of experience as a photographer, filmmaker, guide and lecturer. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively to some of the most remote and spectacular places on our beautiful planet: from the frozen Poles, from African savannahs to the depths of the ocean, I have been privileged to spend my my life to capturing the essence of our fragile planet and its stunning wildlife.

Polar Bear at 90 degrees North

In late 2021, I was honoured to be appointed as the first Photo Ambassador for French luxury cruise company Ponant on board their stunning vessel, Le Commandant Charcot, the world’s first luxury icebreaker. Here I work with guests on expeditions to the polar regions and document the breathtaking beauty of the polar regions - whether the icy continent of Antarctica, capturing images of its wildlife, including penguins (my favourite), seals, and whales, or the Arctic and it’s most photogenic resident, the Polar Bear. I am a firm believer that photography is a powerful tool for storytelling, and I love to help others enhance their skills that capture the natural world and share these wildlife adventures with you.

I invite you to explore my website and view my latest work, including images and from my recent expeditions. You can also learn more about my background, experiences, and upcoming workshops and expeditions and I hope you will join me on a forthcoming adventure - whether it’s a polar expedition by icebreaker, an African safari or a luxury trip around the Scottish highlands and islands by private boat charter and one of the world’s most beautiful trains.

Thank you for your interest. Wishing you all a very happy festive season and look forward to seeing many of you in 2024!
